Alpheus bidens is an Indo-West Pacific snapping shrimp that belongs to the Diadema species group within the genus Alpheus. It can be collected from coral heads. Habitat and Host Associations
Can be collected from the heads of coral, depth intertidal to 83 m (Banner and Banner 1982).
Distribution
Indo-West Pacific: Madagascar, Hong Kong, Australia, Indonesia, Ryukyus, Philippines, Tasmania, Caroline and Marshall Islands (Banner and Banner 1982, Chace 1988).

Alpheus bidens belongs to the Diadema species group within the genus Alpheus (Banner and Banner 1982). Type locality: Australia (Australian Faunal Directory), types stored at the Muséum national d’Histoire Naturelle, Paris, France (MNHN). Morphology
Maximum body size is 23 mm (carapace length) (Chace 1988). Color: abdomen with brown and pale pink stripes, chelae pale pink with brown fingers (Banner and Banner 1982).
