Indo-West Pacific: Indonesia, Madagascar, Gulf of Thailand, Australia (Banner and Banner 1982); Philippines (Banner and Banner 1981).

Systematics and Identification
Alpheus acutocarinatus belongs to the Brevirostris species group within the genus Alpheus (Banner and Banner 1982). Type locality: Madura Strait, Bay of Labuan Tring, Sumbawa, Indonesia, types stored at the Zoölogisch Museum, Universiteit van Amsterdam, Amsterdam, The Netherlands (ZMA). Morphology
Maximum body size is 9 mm (carapace length)(Chace 1988).
